Membership & Nomination of Governance Committee

This committee is the primary vehicle for BAE's recruitment of new members from executive staff in the human services sector. The Membership Committee interviews and makes recommendations regarding potential members; it also provides orientation and support to new members. The committee also works to support and track membership participation and standing via meeting and committee attendance and participation, support of BAE events and dues payment This committee is responsible for presenting a slate of officers to the membership for approval every two years. After due discussion and deliberation concerning the qualifications of candidates, including time devoted to BAE and their overall commitment to the mission, the nominating committee determines final slate of officers to recommend to the membership for their vote.

Finance Committee

This committee concerns itself with all matters pertaining to the financial operation and reporting for BAE. The finance committee is charged with billing, collection of dues, events and other revenues for the mission of BAE. The committee will bill all members for their annual dues and keep current records of payments. It reports in writing, at least quarterly to the board and members. Such reports will cover the current revenues, expenses, liabilities and financial standing of the organization.

Retreat Committee

This committee organizes and plans the program for BAE's Winter Retreats. Theseretreats provide participants with a new perspective on major issues affecting member organizations and the broader human service community. Participation in the Winter Retreat is open to BAE members and to invited guests. These retreats advance the mission of BAE by providing opportunities for executive learning, mutual support and bonding as well as providing participants with a new perspective on major issues affecting member organizations and the broader human service community. Martin Luther King, Jr. Luncheon Committee

The MLK Committee organizes and leads the efforts of BAE's annual tribute to the goals and ideals of the late Nobel Prize Winner, Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. The luncheon is BAE's major fundraising event.

Program Committee

This committee organizes and plans the activities and programs of BAE aimed at nurturing the personal and professional development of existing and emerging leaders of African descent. The committee is responsible for planning BAE's Emerging Leaders Conference, attracting the participation of existing emerging leaders, exchanging information and experiences with those incurrent leadership positions, providing opportunities for mentorship, and providing participants with new perspectives on major issues affecting our sector. The Program committee plans and implements learning opportunities and best practices in the sector for BAE members and associates on topics germane to our sector.

Marketing& Communications

This committee provides the public face of the organizations by promoting the BAE brand and supporting public relations. The committee is responsible for contact with the news media - including making efforts to obtain positive publicity, responding to requests for information and creating public awareness of BAE and what it does. To enhance the image of BAE, it is responsible for planning, organizing and maintaining lines of communication with collaborative members, media, community organizations, businesses and New York residents.
